You look at the white spikes on your feet. The shoes are tight, and they squeeze your feet. The slight discomfort reminds you that it's time to perform.

You stare at the sandpit and start a mental rehearsal of the whole jump. You open your palms to feel the wind. You are focused. You raise your arms and clap to engage the audience. You focus back on the track. “Core stay tight and just sprint.” The claps are getting quicker and quicker. The adrenaline is kicking in. Your heart is beating fast. But you still be patient. You walk one step forward, skip, and skip. You push and extend the right leg right next to the mark. You stay patient to create the thigh separation in the first 6. Applying more and more force to the ground step by step. You increase the frequency aggressively for another 6. You are fast and running into the last 6. You stay relaxed and make sure the core is locked. You keep staring at the board and making adjustments. Penultimate and a shortened takeoff step, driving the left knee forward, the cycle, raising your left arm and waiting, swiping both arms and shooting the legs out, holding the legs for the landing, the butt sliding through the sand, you stand up with confidence because you know that is a well-executed jump.

The official announces your mark. You raise your arms and celebrate.
